Why buy a recipe when there is so much free content online?

There is definitely a lot of free content available online but how do you know the quality of the free content?  Whoever you are, you want a recipe that works and produces great results.  The world of pâtisserie is developing at a huge rate with new techniques, flavour combinations and influences from all around the world so it can be difficult to keep up.

For professional kitchens there is a shortage of pastry chefs, there is often not enough time to keep up with new trends or for research and development, and free online recipes are generally not designed for use in the commercial kitchen.

The home enthusiast may lack the confidence to try something new or not know where to go to get a reliable recipe (just because something comes out on top of a Google search does not make it a good recipe!)

We want to use our knowledge to inspire both professionals and enthusiasts to create outstanding pâtisserie and desserts.  The thought behind our approach is that we help you by focussing on flavour, good technique and variety.

So, here are some reasons why we think you can rely on the quality of our recipes:

  1. To start with, we are knowledgeable and experienced and our website is dedicated to this expertise.  Faye is a Cordon Bleu trained pastry chef and is very experienced in pastry kitchens having worked in hotels, restaurants, cafes, catering businesses as well as having run a home-based novelty cake business.  Faye was the head pastry chef and joint founder of Sweet Elements Pâtisserie.  During her pastry chef career Faye has been relentless in her research and development on new recipes and techniques.

  2. The combination of recipes we publish is unique to us, so you won’t find them anywhere else. They have all been designed by Faye and then tried and tested before publication.

  3. We have a track record of excellence in making these types of pâtisserie and desserts.  When we had the pâtisserie, we made many thousands of cakes in hundreds of varieties, all to the same exacting standards.  Check out the outstanding reviews from our pâtisserie on Google, TripAdvisor and Facebook.

  4. They are not just recipes; they are carefully written guides that take you through the processes step by step.  We have often been frustrated by recipes that are not clearly set out or are confusing.  Our recipes contain information you don’t find often enough in recipe books or online such as guidance on maximising storage and shelf life, ingredient recommendations and efficient preparation techniques.  Also, our recipes will be supported by technical tips we publish in articles, videos or via social media.

  5. Everything we do is built on our ethos and values; we prioritise flavour – there is no point creating pretty food that does not taste good; we are uncompromising on quality and in particular the use of ingredients that are natural, high quality and responsibly sourced; we use the seasons as our guide when creating recipes; we want to build long term relationships with enthusiasts, professionals, suppliers and producers; and we keep educating ourselves so we can continue to develop and improve.

  6. You can pick and chose what you want.  We will be publishing recipes regularly and they will evolve with the changing seasons.  Each recipe will state its suitability for the home enthusiast and / or professional kitchen – although there will be a variety of recipes, some recipes will have specialist equipment or ingredients that are more likely to be suited to the professional kitchen.  Also, it will be clear what equipment is needed before a recipe is purchased.

  7. If you are not sure ask us! We want you to engage with us and provide your feedback.  So, if you are having any issues with the recipes we are here to help you.  Get in touch with your comments or issues and we will do what we can to help you.

  8. Buy it once and use it forever!  The recipes do not expire so you can continue to enjoy them for years to come.

If you are still not sure, then try one of our free recipes!  We make one recipe available free of charge so you can try us out.    If you have not already signed up for the free recipe, then you can do so by filling in the form in the footer of our website.
